CSA SALAD SHARES
Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) is also known as “subscription farming.” You buy a share, or subscription, from a local farmer just like you buy a subscription to your favorite magazine or newspaper. Instead of receiving a publication each week, you receive a “share” of fresh, locally grown produce!
The Chicago Lights Urban Farm CSA Salad Shares allow members to have direct access to high-quality, fresh produce grown onsite. In return, those shares help support the Urban Farm and its community outreach programs.
What Is a Share?
The Chicago Lights Urban Farm is committed to growing as organically, naturally, and sustainably as we possibly can. Our CSA Salad Share is for one to two people and is comprised of mixed gourmet greens along with seasonal produce that may accent salads. For example,
Summer: salad turnips, beets, radishes, kale, arugula, onions, lettuce mix, etc.
Late Summer/Fall: kale, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, salad turnips, beets, squash, butternut squash, scallions, swiss chard, etc.
As a supporter or subscriber, you will receive
- fresh vegetables and fruits;
- knowledge of where and how your food is grown and who grows it;
- 10% off any purchases at the Farmstand;
- pride in knowing you’re directly benefiting your local community by supporting open and green spaces and boosting the economy.
Shares are available each Saturday, June-October, for pick up at the Urban Farm (444 W. Chicago Ave.) or, at an additional cost, on Friday for pick up at the Farm or on Saturday for delivery.
For delivery, you must live or work in the delivery zone (east to Lake Michigan, west to Chicago River, north to Division, south to Ohio) or choose Fourth Presbyterian Church (Chestnut and North Michigan Avenue) as a delivery location.

Choose: June–August or August–October
Please note that each season also carries the risk that a given crop may fail due to circumstances beyond our control. We grow a wide diversity of crops to the best of our ability, aiming for a bounty to always fill your share.
CSA registration has closed for the 2017 season. If you’re interested in a share for the 2018 season, email Ben Jaffe at firstname.lastname@example.org.
