Summer Day 2016

Thanks to all of the volunteers, students, parents, donors, supporters, and staff who made Summer Day 2016 a success!

Chicago Lights Summer Day is a six-week program that provides a safe place for 100 first through ninth graders to learn and engage in academic classes and arts instruction each summer. At the end of the session, students present a dynamic, multicultural arts performance for the community.

Students primarily from the Near North, Near West, and Austin/Lawndale neighborhoods come to Chicago Lights for classroom instruction in language arts, math, and science in the mornings and art workshops in dance, drama, visual art, singing, and digital music production in the afternoons.

Field trips throughout the Chicagoland area and enrichment classes such as meditation and contemplative practices, outdoor recreation, and yoga are also included in the six-week curriculum.
